Newbie from Québec, Canada

Well, not much to say else than I am close to retirement, and last year finally got hooked in both manners of speaking. I bought myself a 1940 Oldsmobile Series 90 Custom Cruiser and a few week later got married with a VERY compehensive woman.
Still have 2 kids (young adults) who still live with us. I just hope one of them will learn to love vintage cars eventhough mine lacks power braakes and power steering. I don't intend to modify it in anyway. Were it a project car, that would have been a whole other thing.

After my last ride about an hour or so, my Olds got the drooping exterior haandle syndrome. Now, I have to find a tool to take off the handles, take the trims off and try to figure the mechanism to change the spring which seem to be the culprit.

So, here it is from last summer and now after my last ride.

Wow that car must have been well loved except the door handles. Best of luck with your Oldsmobile

Thanks guys. I'm no savvy on cars repairs but if I get a reply to the thread about the member who had the same problem I have with his door handle, I may haave at least an idea how to change the broken spring and what part number to buy (and who sells it).

Thank you 67OAI. I'll appreciate it more once the door handle is repaired. Lol ! All I miss is a diagram to know what goes where so I can do it myself. At least I found a parts guy who says he has a ton of different springs and needs only to see the broken one to be able to sell me the right one.

OK, I have to ask. What does this mean? Never heard a woman described this way.

In the top pic your Oldsmobile is decorated. Did you use it in the wedding? Congratulations, BTW.

jaunty I could have just rented a vintage car for our wedding but I took the plunge and actually bought the Oldsmobile barely a few weeks before our wedding. Many a woman would have said to just rent the car and save for a bigger wedding but she totally agreed eventhough she is not necessarely a vintage car buff herself.

Olds64 Yes sir!

Almost one year after buying my Ol' Gal' I just found a **** I can't identify. It rotates into 2 "clics" and is under the dash left of the steerig column. Anyone has any idea what it might be for? From inside, nothing seems different when I turn it. Left of it is the hood latch release (chrome).

Never noticed it until about two hours ago. Looks original.
