Hi all,

Sorry as I have been reading for the better part of 9 months. I am in BC Canada. I have a 1954 olds with a 324 and a 4 barrel 625 carb. I had what I thought was a lifter stick but it has turned into a little more. Anyway, I love classic cars. I am a red seal mechanic and I would say fairly capable of most repairs. Glad to be part of the club and may have some insights to offer as well.

a red seal is just a canadian thing for being a certified automotive technician.

Welcome to another Canuck! You said that what you thought was a stuck lifter "turned into a little more", so what was a little more?

I had a lifter where the pushrod sits actually come break inside. The clip was still there and the pushrod held all the components of the lifter inside it. It ran with a bad miss at low rpm but felt more like a collapsed lifter. I have since stripped it down and have ordered parts. Going with a mild cam, isky anti pump up lifters and sticking with the 650 carb for now. I want to build a dual quad intake carb system but not sure if it will fit under the hood (nothing big for hp just a cool factor)

That's a nice honest car. Looks very factory, aside from the wheels.

Nice car. Dual Quads with 500 CFM carbs might be more than enough. Depending on carb adapters and manifold, you should fit under the hood. You may want to keep an eye open for 3 X 2's. I would suggest calling Camcraft Cams and talk to Hunter about a cam for your useage and future induction plans.
