Garrett from South Dakota
Hey guys just joining up, hopefully I don't get a cold shoulder as I'm only Oldsmobile at heart right now though I wouldn't mind having one I'm currently sitting on 2 Cadillacs one a 1980 DeVille powered by a 5.7L Diesel the other a 1988 Brougham 5.0L.
Love these caddies for some unknown reason anywho this 5.0 has given me a run for my money. Bought with the carb and some stuff missing, long story short shop was broken into while do a carb rebuild I purchased what's left. I found a CCC Q-Jet installed couldn't get to fire figured due to stuff missing opted for a conversion. Installed a vacuum distributor standard old Q-Jet from a 5.0 runs won't idle lots of tuning still no luck. Hopefully being Oldsmobile at heart here you guys can help me out. Otherwise I'm opting for the 455-350 I found on Craigslist

Welcome to the site, an Oldsmobile car is not a requirement for the site and there are a few on here with diesel or gas Olds powered vehicles. I would post my question in the SBO engine forum with a detailed list of what you did to trouble shoot your issue so far,

Thanks for the welcome guys kinda forgot to check back here been busy with planting so not alot of free time
Been really debating this 74 455 with a turbo 350 I found on Craigslist, what exactly is different about 455 and a 455 Rocket or is the rocket just a label
700 bucks for the pair, famous "ran when pulled" but probably do a full build on the motor, turn this old caddy into a sleeper nothing crazy just a well mannered street runner that can hold it's own on the strip tied to boat anchor haha
01 Ram 2500 Cummins and 04 3500 Cummins as well as many others over the years, Several other Cummins trucks and V8s primarily 94-02 as that's my favorite of them, also had a 2010 Cummins and 81 /6
Grandpa has a 48 1ton fluid drive I'd love to restore great grandpa bought it new, still runs and drives just rusty

Yea I guess I read transmissions and stuff don't really interchange much, irrelevant in my case as it's be a small block to big block swap anyway, better focus on the 307 for now so I can atleast drive it while I build lol

buick, olds, pontiac and caddy all take the same transmision bolt pattern.and some of em had a dual pattern to fit all of them including chevy.one thing about an olds 455.rebuilding one will cost you big time, better to fine a good running one and buy the whole car.

Wondering how well this 200R4 will handle a 455 or if I should stick with 307
