Trans mounts to install 324 in 1950/88

Hi guys, I'm new to this site and I'm looking for help. I'm building a 1950 88 coupe. I've installed 324 and hydro from a 1955 olds in my 1950. Trans mounts will not work. I've tried 1955 mounts and also 1950 mounts. I'm sure someone out there has done this and can tell me what I need to do. Thanks, California desertrat.

Do you have the 1955 crossmember? Can it be modified to fit the 1950 frame?
If not , then a 1949 to 53 (straight pan) Hydra- Matic trans could be used. It should bolt right up to the 324.

Cool trans mounts

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it. No don't have a 55 cross member and don't have any pics of motor mounts yet. The 55 mounts bolt to bell-housing but too long and at a different angle.I was able to get one 1950 mount in, but it pushed the rear of trans way over too far. I think you are right, I need a 55 cross member. I was hoping to find someone that did this already, it has to be a common swap. Thanks again.

Here's some pictures of a 1955 frame with the cross member. Then a couple pictures of the transmission I removed from this car. And finally a cross member I have in a 1954 parts car. I was loosing the daylight tonight, if you need measurements on anything let me know and I'll try to get them over the weekend. John

You are to be commended for taking the time to go out and take all these pictures and post them in a response to this post. It is people like you that make this a great site. A lot of folks would not go to this much trouble to help somebody out.

Thank you for the kind words. I feel the best thing I can contribute to the site is pictures/measurements since I have a lot of parts and project cars. I'm daydreaming about retiring early and if I can pull that off I'll have more time to play. Maybe get something restored and some of the parts cars dismantled & share the parts around.

You can send me either a PM (private message) or email with your full name and shipping address. I'll get it pulled and locate a box for it, then reply to your message with the full costs including shipping. John
