Since I'm still denied access to drivetrain/differentials forum after a week of trying, here's my question. Does anyone know a p/n for 57 olds rear axle oil seal? This rear housing has 59/60 pontiac posi carrier with shortened axles. Lube is leaking past new style bearing/seal. Also,I'm using a synthetic gear oil. Too thin for seal? Thanks for listening.

Contact John at rocketracingperformance.com

He runs 57-64 Dropout rears, and will be able to help.

Talking Welcome to CO

Try http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php The seal is listed under Wheel. They have them in stock. Their mail order service is great. I have a 57 Olds and I need to do the same thing to get posi in my car. If you don't mind my asking who did you axles

Thanks citcapp. It looks like Rock Auto has the right size seal. The seal I got from NAPA was too big and was destroyed during install. I had the axles shortened at a buddy's machine shop. He said it was ez and even chamfered the ends. You will need to remove about 3/16" so that bearing fits flush to end of housing. Good luck and thanks again.
