how to join the party in progress

Hey folks! joined and registered and was notified that the registration was activated.Realize I have to stay in Newbie purgatory for 2 days and 5 posts, but I can't even find a place to post an intro, ask a question or update my profile.[every forum is locked] Likely my fault ,as,like another "newbie" not too good on the computer...HELP! derek

1969 post coupe

Thanks Pat, O.K. here goes.Got a 69 red on red post coupe in Dec./08. 400 4-BBL 4-spd. with factory air, buckets, original interior [except carpets] in great shape.Had to fix the original tic toc tach...now working but with a quartz radio replacement from Intricate Instruments.Had to fix the horn spring assembly...sure has a wussy bleat though! Was missing the washer pump...put in a basic G.M. one from a wreck.Drivers side floor pan had some holes.Just got it replaced...looks great[pics will follow]. Spent Saturday pulling all the seat belts[rear ones had never seen light!] Cleaned them as per this sites suggestions.Pulled rear glass[butyl had spread] ...cleaned it and the interior trim with mineral spirits and a ton of rags and elbow grease!Using this site's search feature has already helped a lot with suggestions...next is dying/painting that trim. Talking

Anyone have suggetions about possible tranny replacements? Traced back the car to 2nd last owner who had replaced trans with a Borg Warner T=10. We're going to pull it to reseal but if it has any "issues" what do you guys recommend? Haven't had it out for a good run as we're even today, getting hammered by a blizzard!! Not totally into originality, as it will be a non-winter driver,it's not going to be sold and it'll get handed down to my son...who really doesn't get or deserve the whole Olds thing anyway!

Find a rebuilt Muncie M-20/M-21/M-22. Unless you are looking to put a 5 speed or overdrive in it to make it a better long distance cruiser.

X2

The only problem with staying in the nebie forum too long is Q&A's aren't in the propper sections.

You'll be able to navigate soon.

I went with a 5 speed in my 48. Just wanted that extra gear for hi-way cruising. Not a bad idea but they are expensive. Sounds like you have a nice ride
