Question - rebuilding 70 442 engine

Has onyone rebuilt a 1970 olds 455 engine? If so, did you rebuild accoriding to the 1970 spec's (10.5 to 1 compression)?

The local speed shop told me with todays gas that 10.5 to 1 would need to be out of timing in order to run good (at leat not ping). And if you wanted to get on the engine it wouldn't last long. They said a 9 to 1 compression would be better. Thoughts?

Trying to keep engine as close to original at 370hp. I have original 70 442 W30 parts in the car (carb, distriburator, intake & exhaust manifold), Ram air hood & airfilter.

Just want to get others advice on rebuilding the engine (bore, pistons, cam). What parts should I order and where is a good place to get them.

Appreciate any advice from someone who really knows these olds engines.

Still deciding to put on F heads or E heads that have been altered to run on regular unleaded gas

thanks

If you want to run it on pump gas 9:1 or 9.5:1 would be better.

Thats what I want to do. I'm guessing 9:1 for regular unleaded gas and 9.5:1 for super
