Look on ebay for a full gasket set.

and a Chevy 454 would probably fit, but you'd have to do some modifications or special work. You're looking at possibly getting beefier front springs, new transmission, reinforcing the crossmember, exhaust manifold clearance issues, hood clearance issues...somebody else would know more, I don't know how the chevy big block compares to the oldsmobile big block like i'm doing in my cutlass, but i know they are different. Those are some of the things i'm looking at for mine...

ewwww.
This sounds like a bigger pain than my Olds307-Buick350 swap.

I don't know. Joe Padavano on this forum is very knowledgeable when it comes to swaps and gave me some good suggestions.

If he is in a good mood he may even help you

That Ch**vy talk isn't going to have people jumping up to help you around here, even though the people are great.

Less modding to make it work

I don't think that swap would be TOO difficult; that Cutlass shares the same basic platform as the '78 to '83 Malibu, and there are TONS of people who have done the same swap in those cars (although most start off with an SBC, not a V6). You will need beefier springs for sure; the BBC is one heavy bugger of an engine - I don't know all the weights of every engine, but I'd bet the BBC is heavier than the BBO by a good 100 pounds. It'd probably be best to find a TH400 tranny and whatever you've got for a rad right now probably won't cut it. As with all '78 to mid-80s g-bodies, you'll want to do something about that 7.5" rear end too - any decent big block will chew it to pieces. If you use a Performer intake and a 2" drop base air filter set-up, you might be able to avoid hood clearance issues. I'm not sure about exhaust manifolds/headers. Order a set of block hugger/shorty headers for the Malibu of the same year and you should be alright.

You should be able to get a complete gasket set from your local auto parts store, the intake kit may be sold separate.

Yes a 454 will probably fit, however you will need a trans to go with it. You can use sbc frame and motor mounts, new radiator, and front springs. Treat it like a Monte Carlo. The Gbody forum would be a big help to you.
