Newbie from Italy

Hi everybody,
I am Carlo and was born and live in Italy.
In 205 I purchase a 1972 Cutlass Supreme convertible from Germany.
When the car arrived it was a mess with a 400 pontiac engine inside . . . .
It took me 2,5 years to restore it and now it is quite a good car.

I attach a pic

Welcome to CO Carlo.
If the picture of your car is anything to go by, your car is a credit to you.
Perhaps you might share some of the work you did with us?. Pictures of before and after would also be interesting.
You have joined a forum with many helpful, friendly members, and plenty of them have a vast store of knowledge about Oldsmobiles which they will happily share if you have any problems.

Roger.

Ciao, Carlo! Benvenuto a ClassicOlds!

Di dove sei? Le targhe dicono "ZA," che non indica un luogo specifico.

Well somebody writes in Italian . . . . . WOW . . don't know how to write.
I think the best is to use English right?
Well I live in a beautiful small city near Torino, Piedmont (North west of Italy).
actually licence plates do not point out where you live, it is only a number started with AA 001 AA and on . . .
The plates starting with ZA means the plate is square instead of long.

The story of this car . . .
Came from Germany, saw only in pictures . . . when arrived it was a real mess . . .
So I decided to restore it. Never done before, so I bought all possible manuals and started disassembling.
The color was Matador red with black interior and top.
It was very difficult for me to find parts and the original engine was gone so . . . . . . why buy a 350 when I could buy a 455?
Discovered Fusick, talked with Dave and purchased a 1970 455 engine remanufactore for 4.000 $.
Transmission was a TH 400 (while disassembling I saw it was a TH 375 and was doing well so I used that.
Well if engine is not correct, why keep the black interior and top that I really didn't like? I had to purchase new ones anyway, price was the same so I decided for the White color.

End of part 1

Awesome car. 455 is good choice. You obviously have done well with it. People on this site have lots of knowledge when it comes to these cars so ask away. Good luck and enjoy your new ride.
