Newbie introduction
Howdy folks, My name is Tom. I am a 48 year old white guy. I've been a GM guy my whole life. I have worked for GM dealerships for over 15 years. Mostly as the "used car guy" doing reconitioning work on used cars. My dad had a '63 T-bird new that got side swiped, he traded it in for a '65 Bonneville safari wagon (fully loaded of course). Then in 1970 he traded it in for his special ordered Toronado GT. That car was almost mine at one point AARRGGGH!!! So I told myself if I ever had the chance I would buy one. In 1986 I found an Agean Aqua '70 GT for $500. She had problems (rust at windshield pillers and lots of bondo on one side) but it hauled ***. If you've never driven a '70 Toro you are missing out. With quick ratio steering they behave like a much smaller and lighter car. Anyway over the years I have had 11 Toros. 2 '66 6 '70s all GTs but one 2 '69 and a '71. I am down to 1 '70 she is a creme puff with only 52k original miles garage kept california car. 2 GT's one is a parts car the other is a no rust cali car that still needs interior work and a new vinyl top. But my latest buy thrills me. A '64 vista cruiser with ps pb A/C tilt power windows and FACTORY CRUISE CONTROL !! It's the only cruise I have ever seen on an early A body. If you need Toro parts or info I consider myself a good source. Thanks for having me

Squirtacious: Your post reminds me of a '72 Toronado my father gave me a few years ago. It was white with black trim & v/top and flew like crazy. He was the original owner and it only had 40,000 miles. He was old school and ordered this car with "power window delete". One of my kids totalled out this Olds (rear ended by a Pinto) believe it or not. I always wondered how many Toronados didn't have power windows- I bet it was a pretty rare Toronado. PS: My kids called this beauty the WHITE TORNADO- It's missed.
My fathers oldsmobile
My dads Toro GT was special ordered with every option except power seat. Cuz he was a big fat man and knew he would be the only driver. So the seat was always all the way back. Although all of my Toro's have had a power seat now I am the big fat guy and mine are all the way back. The apple didn't fall far from the tree.
Welcome!
You're quite right about the GTs. Amazing they are! I was 2nd owner of one, and I really enjoyed it. The only reason I gave it up was to get another rare Olds performance "big car" (my Jetstar 1).
You can see it, and what happened to it here:

I've seen your page before while surfing for Toro stuff. Very sad to see one end up like that. My parts car is just as sad but in a different way. It's been sitting under various different trees (multiple owners) for the last fifteen years. It's a perfectly straight California car that smoked so it sat. It was fine till it was moved to Seattle and left to rot. now it's a rust bucket.
