Hi everybody.

Just want to say hello and introduce myself.

My name is Søren and I am living near Roskilde, Denmark, Scandinavia. That´s right, Northern Europe.

All my life I have been into motorcycles and now it´s time for something else. And I have also always liked the sound of and power of an american V8.

Since I´m putting the selffish bike-life on the shelf for a while, I turned my attention to some american steel. Friends of mine drives Chevy´s and I have been searching the GM family for a car that would give me the pleasure of driving a V8 and the posibillity to bring my family along.

My love at this point, is to Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible 1968-1972.

Hope that I will succeed in finding the right car for me and "The wife".

My first posting ( second actually ) will be about getting help before I go and look at a specific car.

Welcome to the site Soren! (Sorry, I don't have the computer skills to get the little "/" through the "o" ).

I know there are several European members on here but I've never asked.....Are there a lot of old American cars around in Europe? I know people have them but I'm pretty sure they weren't imported back in the 60's & 70's. Do you know where to look for 1? Is there a company that specializes in buying/selling them?

Since I´m new in the game of V8 I think there many american cars i Europe. I know that cars were manufactured here back then but I also think must of the cars shown around are imports during the 1980´ up until today. I envy the amount of cars you have at your dispossal when I search through listings, but we have also many cars here for sale, but it gets a bit harder if your mind is set on a specific model.
At this very time only 2 Cutlass Convertibles are up for sale in Denmark.
Comments on the latter if you please, going to see it friday if posible.

the blue one looks very nice in the pictures, certainly appears original, could not tell which motor, but my newly acquired 71 has the 350 and it is plenty quick and I assume gets better gas mileage than a 455 would.

That '70 looks pretty nice. I'm seeing some gold under-hood so I'll assume it's a 350 (I know, engines can be repainted. Going with probability here). A '70 350 is a strong motor. If you look on the shelf behind the water pump (below where the upper radiator hose goes into the engine) there will be some #'s. I'm going to guess you'll see "395558". If you post those #'s up here, we'll be able to tell what size motor it is.

I don't know how much "149,000 kr" is U.S. but if I were choosing between those 2 cars, I'd definitely go with the '70. I happen to LOVE a 1970 Cutlass, where the '69 is my least favorite 64-72 model styling. That is my opinion, of course, and it usually means little to most

 

I have not seen the cars yet but I agree that from the pictures the blue 1970 looks more nice. It is a 350 that have been tweaked a bit, nothing extreme. 149000 is 26600 usd. The red one is suppossed to be a 455. I will make sure to read the #'s and post them.

 

Bringing this thread to live again. The red Cutlass S was sold overprized to someone with more money and time to restore than I, and thats perfectly OK. For several months I have been trying to get in contact with the guy that´s advertizing the blue 1970 Cutlass Supreme Convertible, and I finally have an appointment with him.
I will try post som pictures into this thread and would appreciate any comment on what to ask for and what to look for.

I can this information from the ad. 350 "mondello" engine with 455 heads, 1406 Edelbrock, Flowmaster exhaust.

 

Sircajun, welcome to CO! That looks like a nice car, where is it located?

 

The '70 looks nice. Interesting color combo, blue w/blue interior. It has been repainted, wondering if it's original color. If you look under the hood, driver's side up by the cowl (above master cylinder) there is a plate with lots of letters and #'s on it. If you get a picture of that and a VIN #, many folks here will be able to tell you a lot about the car.

$26,600 USD is pretty steep for a Cutlass Supreme but it's a lesson in economics/"supply and demand" I suppose. Good luck with it. Keep us posted.
