New from KY

Hey everybody, I'm joining because I will soon (I hope soon, at least) be the owner of a 1968 Nighty Eight. The car has been sitting in a garage since the eighties and is located about 5 hours from my home so a road trip is involved. The family is settling an estate and once things are OK, it should be mine. We haven't discussed price yet, but I think/hope they'll be reasonable. Ran when parked (of course!) with about 85,000 miles. At least it's been stored indoors on a concrete floor.

I saw where member Daves455 restored a 68 98 with the same color scheme as this one and it turned out great.

Welcome. Beautiful Olds with alot of potential. 68 and 69 were good years for the 98.

That should clean up well and will probably be easy enough to get running.

Only red flag I see is the goop around the rear window mouldings. Check close for rust in the window opening and trunk.

Welcome to the group... Hope things work out okay for you to acquire the 98... Had a 68-98 in years past as a family vehicle and used for many trips with plenty of room for the family of five...

Thanks Dave, I appreciate the offer for help and I may take you up on it at some point. Not sure when I will get the car, but I'll post more once I get more. The car is located in southern IL so it's not too far from you.
