1968 cutlass s

Hey guys got my car December 3rd. I am 29 years old and I’ve wanted a cutlass since I saw my first one in a movie when I was 14. Finally found one that suited me. It honestly needs nothing and I could leave it alone but that’s not my style. Want to upgrade suspension and brakes and change the color of the interior. Have a few questions and hope I can find some answers. Looking for to it

Beautiful car. The interior actually looks pretty good. I'd change out the carpet to new for better color, clean those seats, and likely dye the seat backs to a fresh color that will make them pop. Upgrading the suspension and brakes will help the car a lot with its drivability. Were you thinking 4 wheel disc brakes? Lots of options for suspension, but certainly install boxed rear control arms and a sway bar. That will help a lot. Check your bushings - they might be really old and that may be a simple fix to the rest of the handling.

You've got a beautiful car!

A couple inexpensive but effective upgrades are a quicker ratio steering box and rear air bags. It makes a huge difference. A slightly more expensive upgrade (but not that expensive if you stay with stock components) are disc brakes.

That is a beauty.
I bought a new 1968 red Cutlass S in October of 1967. I wanted a '67 but only '68 was available. I sold it in 1973 with 131,000 miles on it. I never got the '67 out of my system until I bought one this May.
Good luck with it.

Sweet Cutlass S, my favorite year. Looks to be in great shape, like was mentioned all the interior really needs is new carpet. What's under the hood? From the column shift my guess is a 350 / Jetaway, but 2bbl or 4? Inquiring minds need to know!

Beautiful car! Had one very similar, dark blue with your color interior.

Looks great, beautiful color in and out.

Myself I don't think I'd change almost anything. With the possible exception of maybe swapping the 2 speed for a 3...

Whichever direction you go best of luck with it and welcome to the site.

Great car !

That's going to be a lot of work change the color of the interior. dash, door panels, seat material, headliner. The carpet is no problem.
Like has been said, disc up front for sure, rear arms and sway bar, bigger sway bar up front. just takes work.
