New guy here
Well just wanted to introduce my self, I am a proud new owner of a 71 olds cutlass S. I am completly green when it comes to classics, I have always been a import guy, but my father in law has given me this car as a project. The car is in great shape, with only a little bit of work needed on the interior to clean things up a bit. My real interest lay on moving the parformance. Any and all advice, suggestions, are welcome. Here are a couple pics, I have more, but I have not downloaded them to the comp yet.

Welcome to the site! Congrats on getting the new to you car, it looks pretty sharp!
When you have time surf through old posts on this site and I think you'll find a lot of information on your car and future plans. But if you have something specific in mind don't hesitate to create a new thread asking the question or discussing the possibility.
When you get ready for a performance upgrade I'd suggest you first decide what you want the car to do. Then consider how much money you are wanting to spend on it. That will give you a good starting point to begin working from. John

Hi welcome to the site. After driving the Cutlass you may never want to own another import. My first advice is start with the gears. 3.23 or 3.42 are pretty good choices for good take off and still be able to drive them on the highway. After that exhaust, mild cam, intake, ignition upgrade, and little fine tuning. Nice pic of your car.

my knowledge of the history is pretty limited. I know my father in law was only the 3rd owner. The first owner was a older couple that used the car strictly to go to and from church for 15 years, they then sold it to the guy my father in law bought it from, I know the motor is numbers matching 350, the car has been repainted, but painted very well. It has about 85k on it.

Joe P is in NoVA and I think bobolds is in Charlottesville. I'm in Danville, a little far south to help you much.
That was always the issue with Olds enthusiasts in Vajenya; we were scattered all over the place.
It'll take a little cash outlay but you can make these cars handle like they're on rails and run like a scalded ape. I doubt it would run like a 415 HP Del Sol but only b/c of power-to-weight.
Weren't those things chick cars? they were around here...

Yup, I'm snowbound in NoVA. You may want to join our chapter of the Olds Club of America, the Capitol City Rockets. Our website is here:

There's a club meeting on Feb 21 in Rockville, MD and Sunday Mar 14 in Springfield, VA. We rotate between VA and MD since our membership is pretty evenly distributed around the D.C. beltway. Also, Apr 17 is our Spring Dustoff in Leesburg, VA, so mark your calendar now.
