New Guy fomr the north!
I am more looking for information on my engine then a full car. I have a 53 Buick Special that I am putting in a 70' 455 into I seen some guys do the swap and I was looking for info on that and on the 455 tweaks to make it last. As I said I am form Northern Ontario and the older cars (any thing past the 80"s) are tuff to find and in any shape to work with. I ended up with 2 53's by fluke and the 455 was a gift from a good friend.

Just to clarify, this is a 1970 Olds 455 that your using? They are different from the Buick 455's. At least a couple guys on this board have put a 455 into an earlier Olds, they may be able to give you some pointers with the installation. You might surf the big block forum to see what others have done to their 455's. John

Welcome to CO. The biggest changes I had to make to install the 455 into my '46 Oldsmobile were:
Fabricate something to mount the engine on since the original engine used a the front cross-member as a mount. Had to make to boxes that extended inward toward the engine from the frame rails.
Fabricate a transmission mount for the TH400 transmission.
Modify the drive shaft to fit between the transmission and the rear axle.
Purchase an aftermarket radiator and modify the radiator lower and side rails to fit it, and modify the upper and lower hoses to fit the engine from the radiator.
Remove the original battery box and mount the battery in the big space between the right front fender and the bumper, behind the radiator grille.
Purchase an aftermarket floor shifter that mounted directly onto the transmission and cut the floor board to accommodate it.
Purchase an aftermarket transmission cooler and build/route hard lines from the transmission to a spot in front of the radiator.
Modify existing exhaust manifolds so the downtubes would fit in the '46 frame.
Various odds and ends, hardware, plumbing, etc.

Try this link. I installed a 455 and turbo 400 into my 57 Olds and detailed the install with pictures and drawings including the engine build up as well
