Been lurking around the forum for a little while and like what I see. I've tried to find a decent Oldsmobile forum for years with no real luck until someone from the OCA FB page posted a link to this site a couple weeks ago.
I must admit I have a bit of a dual personality -- I grew up in the Detroit area during the 70's and 80's as a typical motorhead. Dad and I restored my '70 Cutlas Supreme 2dr hardtop during my senior of highschool which I showed consistently for 5 years during my college years at GMI in Flint. When I got out of college, I left the state and have gradually gotten into doing track events which pushed me to the dark-side and European sedans. For the last 10 years I've been a frequent contributor to Audi and motorsports forums. My current track car is a V8 Audi S4.
We just relocated to the JAX area and are now reasonably close to my in-laws in TN (where my Cutlass has been stored the last 4 years). He's recently expanded his back-yard shop and installed a lift, etc. So now I'm getting the itch to get back into the classic car scene.
Classic cars in our family include my Dad's '62 Olds Super 88 and '53 Ford stake truck; my brother's '65 Chevy Impala, an my Father-in-law's '55 Chevy truck and '57 Chevy Nomad.
Since moving out of Michigan, I've lived in South Carolina, Boston, Georgia, Cleveland, Tucson, and now JAX.
My Cutlass was purchased out of the Atlanta area in 1984 -- my Dad knew the original owner through his work. It was originally dark green with a black top and green interior. It's a 350 4bbl car with SS1's. It's pretty much all original except for the paint, mirrors, duals, and HEI ignition.
The 28 year old laquer paint has started to craze, otherwise the car is still very clean. I'm going to start acquiring some parts for the next phase of the car's life -- thinking about adding an OAI hood and going back to the original colors. I also have a 455 engine I picked up 20 years ago I could add.
Looking forward to my membership in this forum.
