New to Forum, but not Olds, with a Rallye 350
Greetings all from the Kansas City area.
Not "new" to Oldsmobiles at all, when I was about 10 I started helping my dad restore his 70 442 convertible. When I was 16, he gave me a Rallye 350 he had pulled out of a salvage yard, and I started a frame off restoration.
Let me tell you, starting that at 16 is dumb, dumb, dumb. I did manage to get the chassis and engine complete before I ran out of money. I then spent the next 17 years going to college, getting married, having two kids, starting a software company, etc, etc, etc.
But there is a silver lining. I now have the money to complete the car (it's at the body shop now) and my wife is ok with that considering I already have a substantial investment in what was done in my youth. Fortunately as well, the finished chassis has been stored indoors all these years, and the engine while "done" wasn't ever assembled until about a year ago.
My body shop (single guy shop) has agreed to have the car painted, back on the frame, and back to me for final assembly by March and I *hope* to have it at the national show in Wisconsin this year.
Btw, can anyone give me the short version of WTF is going on with OCA? My dad was a member back in the day - seems to be some politics going on and an apparent lack of updates, news, and general organization.
Here's a link to current photos of the car:
