My wait is over ...

New to this site for all good reason ... I just bought a 64 Cutlass F85 claiming the 442 emblem
Been crawling all around under the car to match up some body resemblances to the 442 option. Anyone that can help me spot some specifics would be appreciated. I've been researching the oil out of this subject. Love the car either way but hate to claim what it's not

Thanks!
Erin

Welcome to ClassicOlds!

I don't know anything about '64s, but others on these boards should be able to help you out.

Welcome to CO, if the car is a 442, it has a 330 with four barrel, four speed with dual exhaust, very few Cutlass's were made with four speed, several threads here about the first year 442, there were made late in '64 model year, need pictures of trim tag which is located under hood by master cylinder. Pictures of car will help and of 442 emblem locations.

Welcome to the site! Yes, please post pictures of your car and as another member said include one of the trim tag that's located under the hood near the brake master cylinder.

Alright ... just received background on car from previous owner.
News kinda sucks considering ... crate 350 engine! Still a great car but not a 442.
To be honest I wasn't expecting a legit 442. Replaced manual with 3 speed auto.
Will post a picture asap as the car is still a really bitchen looking machine.
Basically a mutt though ... 308posi rear end from a chevelle, nascar aluminum radiator, dual fan, dual exhaust and a great paint job.

Not the green ebay car

Thumbs up I'd drive it!

Don't be to down on it.
Sounds like some good bones
to work with.
Did anyone mention pics?

I made my 72 into a mutt just to please myself. It's not a 442 but it would be close to how I would have ordered one. Still a Cutlass with 442 looks. Hard to clone a Cutlass when it's still badged as one!
