Introduction from Nickels
Hi All. I’ve been cruising around this site for some time and finally decided to formally check-in. As I get older the winters here in Chicago seem to get colder and longer, but it did give me time to “hang-out” on this site.
I’ve been looking for a 70-72 442, or 70-71 SX. However, I’ve discovered that the quality of car I want, I can’t afford. Since my wrenching skills are limited, I’m looking for a car I can wax, put gas in, and drive. To further complicate my search, my wife wants a convertible and I originally was looking for a coupe. I’m now open to convertibles and coupes, and doesn’t have to be a 442.
My most recent muscle cars have been Pontiacs. In the past couple of years I’ve owned a 64 Tempest, and a 72 LeMans Sport. My first new car was a 1966 Pontiac GTO 389CI, with 3-dueces, 4-speed, red fender liners, and posi-traction. I had to sell it just two years later for the money necessary to return to school. The schooling paid off. Now, I am now retired and living in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and looking forward to being a part of this group.

Welcome
Welcome aboard
You need to join us in the Good morning thread. But not today. It's CO first "Don't whine about the weather" Day
It lasted about 3 post before Cutlassgal [Sandy] snuck in a Ohio gloom and doom report.

Welcome another Chicago guy,
I to came overfrom Pontiacs - first car 68 GTO coupe loved it. Now I'm in a 71 Supreme Convertible 455. Don't get too hung up on the 442 or SX unless you want a high dollar collector car. Ther are supremes out there way cheaper. My wife too loves the convertible, great summer cruiser and still gets a lot of attention at the local cruises even if its not the king of the hill.
