Hey guys!

Hello! I'm Gordon I'm 19 and I have a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 "Holiday 88" I'm restoring

It's a 350 Olds & with the Holiday 88 package I have bucket seats console shift and a racing steering wheel.

Picked the car up for 600$ Car was originally owned by a elderly couple who bought it brand new in 1979, Undercoated every year and very well maintained I purchased it off of a guy who had grew up next to the old couple and bought the car when they passed away, He sold it because his step son wanted to fix it up for himself But the step father was worried about him abusing the car & killing himself while doing so.

So i bought the car with 83.000KM on it and I've been slowly restoring her ever since.

Rebuild the car cleaned up the engine bay removed some pollution control garbage, Had to do some wiring to the car, The elderly couple installed a JC Penny Cruise Control which they did by cutting out the clock.. which i wasn't to thrilled about but i'm looking for a original clock and face plate

The car is original beige with white vinyl & beige interior, I removed the Vinyl top and plan on going with a clean hard top.

She'll be a real beauty soon enough! I will have some questions for the community when they're needed.

Thank you!

Woo Hoo!

Another Holiday.

Welcome, and have fun. I have a 78 Holiday. 4 years and trucking.

You mention that it has 83000KM. Is the gauge cluster in metric? As in, the speed-o?

Sound like it was or is a Canadian car. We use metric up here We even have metric $$$ If you come to Canada for a visit, you'll be in for a real treat - go to Walmart and check out their scales. If you weigh 150lb in the US, you automatically only weigh 68.2Kg up here.

Only bad part is we have metric 'gallons' Takes 4.5Liters to make a Canadian Gallon. 3.78 Liters to a US Gallon. Doesn't really matter, you're gonna get screwed at the gas pumps just like us.

Delta 88 = such a nice car.

My first car, when I was 20, was a '79 Delta. I miss that old car.

Aye It's a Canadian car as I'm from Canada, Maxville Ontario to be exact. So everything is in Metic

Ill post some pics when i can i only have before pics when i first bought it, I'm a little ashamed to show it at the moment since i've been doing some wiring well removal of wiring in the car and part of my dash is off!

I think the most stressful thing about the car is the fact at least once a week i get some twit asking if i'd be willing to sell the car for the enduro & i always give the deadly stare at them until they decide to leave my property haha!

I'm still trying to figure out what i wanna paint the car, It's originally a Tan/Beige interior/exterior I'd like to keep it that way with some kinda black detailing without being to bold with it.

It's also nice to see someone with a Holiday 88 like mine, It's nearly impossible to dig up any info on these bad boys!

VERY nice score for the money!

I asked because I have interest in finding a full metric only speed-o that does not show MPH. After hours of starring at pics of the REAL 77 pace car, I am wondering if that is what they used.

I would LOVE to buy one that has a tripometer.

The thought is if I can get the tranny gear right, I can use it to show MPH.

Either way, I WANT one! heheheheh So if anyone scores one in their local yard, and it ONLY shows KPH (not those KPH/MPH kind) I'm interested! I'd love to see pics of yours man.

Welcome. I had a 78 Delta 2-door years ago. My aunt bought it new. It was probably one of the best cars I ever owned. Man that thing would run. Loved that car. You have to get those pictures on here or your car won't start (okay, just kidding). I love fdwheelman's Delat. Mine was just like that except silver with wire wheel covers.

Gordon- look at pictures of the 1977 Pace Car and you'll see how some tasteful black accents can really bring that car out.

Holiday 88 was nothing more than a buckets/console trim option though a lot of them came with big engines and good suspension. Great car to have and enjoy.

Here's some Holiday 88 discussion that came up on another board a couple years ago. You'll see a couple of familiar names... http://forums.aaca.org/f136/how-many...re-257559.html

Haha funny i was actually looking at the pace car few days back and admiring the paint! Me & my dad were even talking of doing the same paint job as the pace car but replacing the red pin stripe with a Tan one to match my interior.

I also need to get some nice Olds Mags or find some nice Cragar SS

You can get 15 inch SSIII wheels for that car. Just check your bolt pattern. It should be 5X5 instead of the A body 5X4 3/4. Looks pretty sharp. For a car like this I would definitely go with a classy 5 spoke, lots of options to choose from. You could even change up to 16 front and 17 rear and they would probably give it a really nice aggressive stance.

A 260 or 350 car will have 4-3/4 BP. Only Ninety Eights and 403 Deltas got the 5x5 BP.

The Pace Car paint scheme without vinyl roof will look good. You might even consider black combined with a champagne or light gold contrast and a darker tan or brown pinstripe.
