hello from Pittsburgh

Hello!

I found this site as I’m dabbling in buying a ’84-’88 Cutlass Supreme similar to the ’85 my parents factory-ordered (and then donated in 2007/2008 after ~215k), so I’m keeping a special eye on the classifieds ... I’m not in any hurry, though, as I own my father’s ’67 Mustang (had it restored a few years ago), have only a 2-car garage and not looking to move, and like to keep my vehicles inside – I think of it as I have ample motivation to wait for the right one.

My family also had a ’85 Cutlass Ciera 4-door which my parents bought used in 1989 with ~90k miles … over the next 10 years everyone in the family (both my parents, both siblings, and me) at one time or the other exclusively drove that car, performed very well for us until ~204k I had to get rid of it because too much was breaking, final straw was the fuel line was leaking.

Some time ago I bought a dealer pricing guide and priced-out the two cars if brand-new, surprisingly the Ciera was more expensive as it was *loaded* while the Supreme was fairly standard

I’ve been a member for a few days and have viewed a number of threads, I really appreciate the friendliness of everyone towards others.

Welcome to CO. Some pretty nice ones pop up on Pittsburgh Craigslist, so keep an eye out there. One of my favorite ones that has not sold yet is a burgundy '84 Cutlass Calais with t-tops in Elderton (near I-80). Good luck in your search.

Thanks, Terry
You have some good-looking cars; is that purple PA classic plate on the 442 still there, or have you switched to a vintage plate?

Greetings, fellow Pittsburgher. What dealer did your parents buy the Cutlass Supreme at?

Hi Ciera

I'm sorry, I didn't say anything in my original post about it so I may have misled you. I'm a transplant to Pittsburgh, originally from the Detroit-area; moved here a few years ago for a job after serving close to 8 years in the Navy.

To answer the question, the dealer was Bill Lee Olds in Mt Clemens, Michigan (Man with the Patch). Sometime in the '90s the dealership moved a few miles south to Clinton Township and then GM bought him out when Oldsmobile was shut-down ... the Clinton Township location now serves as a vocational school while the Mt Clemens location is a lighting store
