Greatings From WA State

I have been a GM guy from day 1. This is my first older Oldsmobile. I have a 61 Dynamic 88 Holiday 4 door hard top. It was a drive by and seen it for sale and took it home next day. I have never had this hard of a time finding parts for a GM in my life lol. Not doing a full restore. More like get it ok for summer cruising and call it good. I would love to go 4 barrel intake with a EFI carb style setup and refreshing up the 394. After looking for some options the price of doing this may very well put me in the LS swap camp. FB and YouTube have not been all that great for information. Hope I can learn something here. I have more rust then I hoped for on the body. Its going Patina so its not a show car... just a fun car.

Welcome to ClassicOldsmobile.

My best advice would be to sell the car and buy a Chebby, you'll be happier in the long run.

The body sheetmetal is not reproduced and you will have to look for used. The 394 engine is good, but more modern intake systems are not available. An EFI carb could be adapted with some success, but an original carb would work fine.

An LS engine transplant sounds like a headache. You'll need to fabricate things and get a more modern transmission. If you did accomplish an LS sway, the value would be near ZERO.

Welcome to the site, lets see it. You bought a car that has almost 0 aftermarket parts following. Powertrain and suspension parts are still mostly readily available however the rest will need to come from a donor car. An LS swap is possible, but it will require fabrication as there are no kits and not that much experience to follow out there from those who may have done it on one of these cars. I think it could add value if done right, it's a 4 door which is a blank slate for personal creativity.

You didn't buy a GM, you bought an Oldsmobile. Until the mid-late '70s, there was essentially no drivetrain interchange between the various divisions, and while some models shared the same "platform" as far back as the '50s, a lot of details were different. So unless its a Chevy that was built by the millions, aftermarket support is limited.
