96 lss intro

OK, seems I have to jump through the hoops here re. intro first before I'm allowed to ask any help question re. my LSS.
I'm John with about a 6 month old to me 96 LSS with 3.8 supercharger.
Love the power, and ability to be going uphill doing 110 in a short distance without even realizing it till I happen to glance at the speed-o-meter. (But I digress.)
Hopefully soon I can post the real questions.

OK edited out "turbo" and added supercharger. Me thinks appropriately named.

Even with 3800 (Buick design) you have one of the last Oldsmobiles built that were truly worthy of the Oldsmobile name.

Might this one have a supercharger?🙂

Please let us know if your LSS has the GM supercharger or an aftermarket turbo? There are turbo kits available for the 3.8l.

BTW, make sure your coolant is in good condition. The 3.8l used DexCool and unless the car has been meticulously maintained the DexCool can turn into a brown goo that clogs coolant passages and leads to blown head gaskets.

Thanks for that input. More reason besides the one time it ran hot going up a hill to do a preemptive radiator flush. Curious, is there a flush to stay away from, since the car "should" have Dex Cool in it.

And yeah, edited out the turbo and added supercharger in my initial post.

There's isn't any specific brand of flush to use. Just make sure you get a flush kit and run water through the coolant system until it runs clear. You should also drain the flush water and use distilled water to mix the DexCool. I've considered adding a coolant filter to my 96 98 but it really isn't necessary. It's just a MAW since I use one on my diesel truck.
