Glad to find this site. I have been looking for a wagon for about 3 years. I really just wanted something cool to drive to home depot. I recently bought a 72 Vista Cruiser. Drove it on a trailer, brought it home and put it in the garage. The car is a survivor, pretty much all original California car with the 455. Some rust. Missing some trim here and there and needs paint. I'll be retiring soon and this will become my full time project. I'll post photos of the car in its current state soon. Looking forward to the conversations and resources here.
I won't be needing the Meguair's Prize for a while. Good luck everyone. I need to know if the side roof(Quarter Glass) from a Buick Sport Wagon are the same as the Vista Cruiser? 1972

Welcome, I would like to see pics also! Yes the glass from a 68-72 Buick Sport Wagon and a 68-72 Vista cruiser are the same. Used are almost always delaminated, though unfortunately. I never did the planned resto on my Vista. I wondered if you could put that "mirror" sticker sheet stuff over the windows, then they would look good at least from the outside??
As said above, the dark tinted glass pretty much always has delamination. If you can find the optional mirrored glass they usually do not have as much delamination and because the underside of the top glass is mirrored, if they have delamination it really does not show.
The quarter glass in the 72 Sport Wagon (non vista) is not the same. It’s the same as a Cutlass,Chevelle, Tempest wagon. You’ll need to find a vista roof car for donors.

Car looks great! Folks are paying big $$$ to have patina like that applied to their high end restos. Get it runnin' good and enjoy!
I thought the Buick Sport Wagon was the same as the Olds Vista Cruiser, I had a 64 Buick Sport wagon and it had the scenic glass roof like the Olds had
Thanks for the help everyone. Good to know that the roof side glasses are the same. There are some Buick glasses advertised about 5 hour north of me. Owner has not replied.
Yes, it is a U car. What kept me hooked during negotiations was that it's a power window car!
The car runs good but it's been sitting for a while. I'm m working on all of the roof window openings to patch the rust. This is my #1 priority. Then I'll start driving it and get it sound.
Ultimately, we plan to use it as our retirement travel car. Rt66 etc. Shaped patch panels temporarily installed
Am I just talking to myself at this point? THIS is a 1972 Buick Sportwagon..
Correct,
While Oldsmobile used the roof glass until 1972 in the Vista Cruiser, Buick only used the roof glass until 1969 in the Sport Wagon. So, the glass could come from a 68-72 Vista Cruiser or a 68-69 Sport Wagon. None of the 64-67 glass is the same as the 68-up glass.
Uhhhh, I'm just trying to get to something that's cool to drive to Home Depot. Beautiful car Tom. Thanks for sharing all the build photos. I may hit you up for some do and don'ts.

Do you have any pictures of the glass channel before you started working on it? From your initial picture or the car it didn't look that bad. Reason I ask is my '71 VC has some visible spots, but I haven't pulled the trim to see how bad the channel is.
The window opening was repaired with screen and epoxy at sometime in the past. Sometimes, the long way is the short way. There wasn't much left. So I took it all out. The side windows and quarter windows are similar.
