67 delta 88
I'm a newbie, but I need some help with my 67 Delta 88 . It was owned by a lady who spent 15 years in a Rest Home. The car was on blocks in her garage since 87 I believe. I got it from her son when she passed away. It has 425 Rocket, new bias tires , auto , AC,AM-FM, 2 door, basically no rust, trunk looks new w/spare and jack. Engine runs great and may need some exhaust manifold gasket replaced. It needs a fuel sending unit and a heater core. New water pump is being installed. The car is white with black interior that is great looking-------till I sat in the driver's seat and split it. There is a dent in the left front fender that should not be a problem. The chrome around the 2 rear tail lights is missing. I am in western KY.
Help me by telling me what to do as I am not a wealthy collector.

First off, what do you mean it has "new bias ply tires." If they're the same tires that were on the car when it was put up on block in 1987, they're not new, even if they were never driven on. The sidewalls are certainly dry-rotted, and they would be dangerous to drive on. If you just bought them, never mind.
As far as the fuel sending unit, I needed one, too, but they're not out there unless you come across an NOS piece at a swap meet, online, or something like that. I went ALL OVER the local parts stores and online looking. The guy behind the parts counter at the local GM dealer took up the cause as well, and after a week of making contacts, he finally struck out.
Mine wasn't really broken, but the two-shaft unit had split at the bottom and needed to be reattached. I did that, the unit is back in the car, and it's still not working completely correctly in that the gauge does not go to full when the tank is full, but at least it moves. I may someday take the tank off again and try once more to make sure the float moves freely. The strainer at the bottom of the intake pipe was also damaged and needed to be replaced, and that's not available, either. I ended up using one for a later car and modifying the opening so that it would attach tightly to the bottom of the intake pipe as that strainer's tight fit holds the sending unit canister together.
Your rear chrome will also have to be found by hit or miss techniques. Get a copy of Hemmings and call places that advertise as having Olds body parts. Advertise in the Parts Wanted section on this site.
The bottom line is that there is no single source, no magic answer when it comes to getting parts for these cars. They're not the Cutlass/442s for which lots of reproduction parts are available. Get a good dialing finger, get a good internet connection, and be prepared to make lots of phone calls and send lots of emails.
Good luck, and welcome to the club!
The fuel sending unit can be rebuilt, and the heater core can be repaired though I think it's better to replace it. They show up on ebay for reasonable money every so often.
The advantage over the Cutlass/442 is that NOS chrome stuff for these cars also goes for reasonable money. Used western desert chrome is also pretty reasonable.
Is the interior cloth or vinyl? If vinyl about any good trim shop will have the black vinyl in stock. Matching the cloth might be expensive.
www.oldsclub.com and look under local chapters. There are a couple of OCA chapters that might be near you and can help. The guys in Ohio chapters seem to be good at finding big car stuff too.
