1961 olds slim jim made me do it.

Been a transmission man for 36 yrs and never got the opportunity to rebuild the notorious slim Jim, my dad alway took them. Now he's retired and has forgotten everything. This forum gain my respect in 1 minute. Great information from great members. I'm in central Wisconsin of anyone needs help. Thanks to all.

Welcome. Good luck rebuilding a Slim Jim. The best bet is to replace it with a better transmission (i.e. TH 400). The Slim Jim in my 64 Olds was a POS.

Welcome aboard. The Slim Jim is a much maligned and misunderstood transmission that some of us like but many hate. If you learn how to reliably and correctly rebuild them you could become popular with a lot of 60s Oldsmobile and Pontiac car owners!

X 2 To keep car "original", you can't swap transmissions.
.....Just my two cents worth.
