Hurst Dual Gate question

Any of you guys that have a 68-69 H/O ever removed the four screws and removed the top plate? Is your PRND21 indicator and lamp housing attached to the underside of the top plate? Or does it just sit down in the hole on the shifter? From the looks of the underside of the top plate, some remnants of adhesive maybe?
Thanks
Tom

It all ties to the light bracket/cup then top plat goes over. The adhesive is a gasket to seal the glass.

adhesive

So the adhesive on the underside of the top plate, is for some foam or rubber weatherstrip material? This would just seal against (not stick to the Plexiglass PRND21 indicator?) and hold it down into the top of the shifter correct? When the top plate is removed, the PRND21 stays or sits down in the shifter?
Thanks, sorry for my confusion.
