1967 Olds 442 rearend resto

'67 B.O.P. 10 bolt

Posi 3.08

This car will receive all new steering, suspension, etc. Started at the back. The rebuilt begins with removal of the old stuff.

67 Olds rearend resto Part 2

Adding rear trailing arms, sway bars, shocks, lowering springs, brakes. Drilling the chassis sway bar bracket mounts was a PIA. Located a right-angle drill attachment tool which saved the day.

Moving onto brake line plumbing and e-brake cables

Jesse - Nice work, you look to be a pretty accomplished mechanic! Just curious, while updating the rearend, did you change the 3.08 gearing, or are you happy with them? I have 3.42's with Anti-spin in the O-type in my '67 4-4-2 and I think they're right where I want them. I don't do much Interstate highway driving (+70mph).

Thanks! I have not changed the gearing at this time. The car was not very reliable when I got it, so I had not put many miles on it and none on the highway. The engine and tranny seem okay for now, but the suspension, steering and brakes were shot. I just jumped in to correct those things so that I can then drive it safely and decide what to do next.

That's cool, as long as you're satisfied with what you have, that's all that matters. Keep up the great work!

No sir, CPP was used, except for diff cover and drum brakes. It all went together pretty well overall.
