I will begin with I have always wanted a 1967 442 after I road in my friends new 67 442. Chuck also had bought a new 1965 442 and traded it in for the 1967 and I asked him why, he popped the hood and pointed at the engine and said that's why! We took a ride and I was hooked. I went into the Navy in 1968 for 4 years, got married twice and had 5 kids and life took over. Then one day a couple years back this 442 I bought was on Craigslist and I snag her up and have been working on her ever since! I will start with some early pics when I just picked her up!

Bill - Thanks for starting this project thread on your '67. As you know, I am just a little biased towards the '67's, owning one myself. From the pics when you first brought her home, it looks like a big project, but the car looked pretty solid. Really like that you were able to find a 4-speed car, very nice! Obviously your car has the iconic '67 only 4-4-2 louvered hood, but I am curious about the pic above of the rear deck lid, and upper taillight assemblies that appear like they are from a standard '67 Cutlass Supreme without the 4-4-2 option? I am including 2 pics here for comparison to your car, the 1st from a standard CS, and the 2nd from my '67 4-4-2. You will immediately notice the differences in the trim across the bottom of the deck lids, and the trim around the uoper taillight pods. I have to wonder if your car might have been rear ended at some point and the standard CS parts were sourced from a salvage yard to get the car back on the road? Have you decoded your car's Cowl Tag for verification it is a 4-4-2 optioned car (provided it's not a Fremont car), because the other possibility is the hood could have been added to a regular CS?
Standard '67 Cutlass Supreme (non-4-4-2 optioned) ''67 Cutlass Supreme with 4-4-2 option
Looking forward to reading more info and seeing more pics of progress on your build! Thanks for sharing!
I am. thinking she is a clone! but some one went thru a lot of work to put every thing in (on) this car to make it look like a 442.! here is a pic of the cowl tag!

Bill - Yep, she's a clone. In the bottom row of your Cowl Tag info (5), there would be a "V" after the 5 to identify the L78 4-4-2 Performance Package Option if it was a true 4-4-2. The "Y" on your tag next to the "5" identifies Deluxe Seat Belts. I see your car was built in Lansing, mine was built at the Framingham, MA plant. Here's a pic of my Cowl Tag.
I was told that all 442 were built in Lansing, I guess that was wrong!!
Yep, they were also built at the Fremont, CA plant, but the Cowl Tags from Fremont are much less detailed than those from the Lansing and Framingham plants, and are therefore the most often cloned, and attempted to be passed off as true 4-4-2's. At least that is what I've read from reliable sources on this forum that know much more than I do. I can't begin to describe the amount of knowledge I've learned from this forum since I started looking for my car in 2019!
well that cowl tag on my car is not going to make her run any different. I did not know the difference when I bought the car and do not care. If it looks like a duck quacks like a duck she must be a Duck

Yes agreed, restore it and drive it and its a 4 speed!
