Well its been 11 years since I posted my 1968 cutlass project on here. Some life set backs and a new chapter in my life has once again
renewed hope and ambition to once again start working on the car. Well, it’s not like I gave up on it. I have been buying new parts and repairing
and replacing damaged parts. It’s a slow process but making some head way. All new body bushings, new brake and fuel line, and fasteners,
drum to disk brake conversion and new power brake booster. A nice salvaged S hood, grill and new rear trunk lid. It is sad to say that most of
the cars panels and parts are not what came on it from the factory
The body and doors are back on the completed restored frame and working on getting core support and front clip back on. Nothing is going
back on unless it’s been restored or replaced with new. I am converting the column shift to floor shift and already bought and restored the floor
console. I have documented all my progress with video and pictures. What is really causing some frustration is the body and paint process. I do
not have the knowledge, tools or skills to prep and paint. Finding someone to do these things will probably be expensive. The car has always
been kept in a garage and covered but I am sure being in primer for 12 years will require some more work.
I was 37 when I bought this car and never factored in or thought how hard parts would be to find and how expensive parts would become
Over the years
This car is a survivor and I plan to bring it back to its original state or close to it. Here are some 3D picks of what the car should look like when its done
As well as some floor pans I created in a free 3D program called blender. The floor pans will be applied to the model when finished. I am working on
the fire wall now. There’s a lot of bends in the fire wall and floor pans and its taking a lot of time to do it. The dash pick should be dark red but haven’t
changed to red yet as well as a lot of tweaking vertices here and there.
