Hi guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the site. I'm currently in the process of buying my first Olds: a 1972 442. Its a low miles rust free original California car, from the second owner. I can't wait to buy it! Always wanted a 442.
Guys,
A bit of unfortunate news, the deal fell through. The owner said he just could not part with it. He had the car since high school. I totally get it...
I will just move on, and try to find another! Thanks to everyone on here for the kind words.

Guys,
My good car buddy said IF I don't buy the '68 W-30 he would kill me...lol
Seriously, I'm gonna pull the trigger and buy it! Pictures coming soon when its at the house...
Thanks to everyone for your support!
A teaser pic of the 1968...
It will be home next week. Its missing the original OAI, and some other pieces. It is what you would consider a 'day 2 car'. It was drag raced at one point in its life. Needs work. That said, it is a solid rust free California car. My goal is to get it running/drivable then start the search for the hard to find goodies.

Sorry the originally posted car fell through, but looks like you stumbled on a real diamond in the rough with the W30 car. Post some more pics when you get it home.
11B = built the second week (B) of Nov (11), 1967
005219 & 600291 are assembly plant codes
ST 68 = Style 1968 model year
3 = Oldsmobile Division
44 = 442
87 = Holiday Coupe (2dr HT)
BF = Fremont Assembly Plant
00530 BODY = Fisher Body sequential number
TR940 = Black interior with strato bucket seats
B80 = Chrome roof drip moldings
D2 PAINT = Sapphire Blue (D) with Black Vinyl Top (2)
Given that the car was built in Fremont, CA it can't be a W-30 as all W cars were built in Lansing, MI.

Thanks! Kinda had a clue it was not a W30. Even though I wish it had been. None the less, its a genuine 442, and that's what matters most. It will still get all the love it deserves!
