Convert to a stick

72 Cutlass resto, would love to convert to a stick. Any major advantage doing it now with the 455 pulled ? Also a ballpark price of what that might cost me if I could find a good rebuilt trans. One last ques is there anything I should do different to this motor while rebuilding it in preparation for a stick down the road. Right now I'm dialing down a racing motor to a driver. Manifold , carb , cam, lifters, elect ign, toque converter etc. I'm a little green around the Motörhead gills so any input is helpful input. Thx in advance.

Crankshaft will need to be machined for the pilot shaft bushing.

A lot of this has been discussed before on this forum. Do some searches with key words and you will get a lot of information. Two big advantages to doing the swap now are crank machining for the pilot bearing, as noted above, and the ease of using offset dowels to align the bellhousing perfectly.

Good tip, sorry to go down an old road, beat a dead horse, hit a empty bong, etc. only been up a week. I still get jacked by all the work ahead. I'll snap out of it soon enough.

What kind of manual transmission? A factory 4-speed, or aftermarket 5/6-speed?

Going over the motor build specs tonight so will let u know. I would say closer to factory since I'm dialing down the motor to make it a driver.
