Believe it or not in 67 some W30's were built with the column shift Turbo 400 trans.

Parts are going on, door weather strips, seal, trim, exhaust tightened up. Still need to finish painting the hood and the driver's fender needs to go on but it is getting there!

Some little things are still on order, armrest bases, ignition/door lock set, parking lamp lens gaskets, windlace. I have to get busy finishing off the repro door panels with the molding, emblem, and attaching pins. The hood needs buffing and install but its getting there. Wheels and tires need to be ordered, I am thinking going with chrome reverse again. I really like the factory SS1's but I always need to be a bit different....

Sometimes it is the little things that drive you crazy! I decided to get a new key cylinder for the ignition and door locks. Turns out the trunk key would not open the trunk. Both keys that came with the car were those 1970's colored aluminum ones. They don't hold up well. I had another keyed trunk lock assembly from a parts car which I installed but nothing for the doors and ignition in the way of a spare. Well the ignition cylinder took a while to get out. I read the procedure, put key in ignition and turn to acc. Then insert paperclip or similar into the little hole there and the cylinder pops out? Hmmm did not seem to work so I looked again. Oh after paperclip is inserted turn key further to the left.... Hmm still nothing. So after many tries I removed paperclip while holding the key to the left and it came out. A few little parts still on order, and i found I had the wrong door panel clips...too big they are to slide into the door inserts. Headlight bezels went on! Door panels assembled. They look nice but not quite as well made as SMS ones, they were way cheaper and I didn't have to wait a year for them. They are PUI brand.

Joe - It won't be long now and that Silver Bullet 67 of your's will outshine mine. Had mine all buffed up and ready for a big cruise-in tonight. Check out the pics on the "Good Morning" thread under General.Discussion. It will be a couple minutes before I can get them all posted.

All ready for for the big cruise-in tonight!

Sweet, I checked out those pictures, nice! We have a big one here also 2x a month weather permitting. Thing is they allow new cars as well so lots of challengers, corvettes.... but to each his own. Your car is looking great! I am having difficulty contacting Stockton Wheel to order my chrome reverse wheels.... no answer, leave messages and no return calls. Other venders sell them but seems not with the back spacing I want unless they can do custom.... guess i have to try harder...

Joe - Thanks, I really appreciate the compliment on my car, that means alot coming from you! Glad you enjoyed the pics of the cruise-in, that particular one is once a month, and only allows cars pre-1980, hUUUUUge parking area for participants and spectators which is nice. Good luck getting ahold of Stockton Wheel! I can't wait to see complete pics of your car when it's done!

Thanks! I just ordered the wheels from Wheel Vintiques since I got no reply from Stockton Wheel. And I did get my custom backspacing but it will be about 12 weeks for them to build my wheels. I guess this will be ok as I don't need to get plates on this car anytime soon since I have been doing the cruise nites and shows in the wagon, still having fun with it! Also it gives me time to make tire choices. Happy to say the To Do list is pretty short now with this project, and it feels good!

Joe - The wheels look great! You may have said previously, but are you getting 15x7's or 15x8's?

For the front I went with 15x6 and rear 15x 8 with a 5 inch back spacing which should put the tire/wheel combination within the wheelwell without interference. I also have Pro Trac tires on order 215-75-15 front runners and 275-60-15 for the rear. I like the old school look on my cars... And being the 442 is a plain jane post car, 4spd, back in the day the chrome steel wheels would be just about the entry level aftermarket wheel.

I beg to differ with you, but post car or not, your car is anything but a plain jane! That combo should look sweet for the old school look you're going for!

Yes you are right, in 67 all 442's were built on the Supreme platform unlike earlier years where you could get a de-chromed F85 442. But this one has few options, see trim tag, 2L is the 4spd, 5V is the 442 option, E, tinted glass, and the 390-B is bucket seats and black vinyl covered. Not shown on the trim tag is the power steering that it does have. This car is a factory radio Delete though.

Here's my tag, you'll see it's a Framington car. Sorry the washer hose is coving part of it.

Believe it or not they came like they are, I just cleaned the shiny part with a bit of soap and water. A few tar spots were removed by a little WD40 and a cloth. I have repainted some of these in the past, just taping them off. I believe the shiny part is an anodized process so you don't want to get too aggressive with that.

Yeah I think I can possible read it as a 2Z...column shifted Turbo 400 trans, 5VY is a 67 442 with deluxe seat belts. P is a trunk light, K paint with black vinyl top. W is tinted windshield... so yep not a whole lot of options there either.

Yep, you read the tag perfectly! You're good, I had to get my guide out to decode it! Paint code K is Aquamarine, which is what the repaint was during the resto.

I hope you have better luck with Wheel Vintiques than some of the rest of us. I've had a set of wheels on order since February. They seem to be really good at promising 6-8 weeks out. Call back, another 6-8 weeks out. Still no confidence when I'll get them and I know I'm not the only one. Their production scheduling seems to be a train wreck.

Well time will tell.... and I had my doubts even at 12 weeks.... I really don't plan on licensing the car this year anyway... Thanks for the info.

The repro door panels are giving me aggravation... Of course the holes for the push in fasteners are not even close to where they need to be. And the construction is poorer quality in that the SMS like originals had 2 layers of boarding where these are just one. This means that where there is a slot for the fastener nothing is behind it but the thin foam and vinyl. Ok I struggled and modified the fastening system a bit and got things to work. Now that I know what has to be done the driver's side will go easier. Thinking about the backordered wheels and I may have to do something different while I wait. Am thinking of doing poverty caps and seeing about having the rear stock wheels widened to 8 inches with the proper backspacing...we shall see.

Looks great, nice job! I'm going to start looking for some inner door panels myself, for my Holiday Coupe. Any suggestions on where to get the best ones?

Joe - The door panel looks great! Sorry it was such a PIA. I've got a buddy that's into MOPARs, and right now he's restoring a '77 Dodge Dually Club Cab, what a huge vehicle. He's just about done, he's working on the interior now. He told me the interior door guts and the panels have been an absolute PIA.

Quick side note, after much researching, I was finally able to get my hands on the timing card info for the cam in my '67. I don't need the info right now, but I always wanted it for future reference in case I did need it.

I never got door panels from Legendary but if I needed Non Post Car for panels I would use Legendary. I did get some bench seat covers from them and they were very nice

Joe/guys - I accidentally hit the "unsubscribe" function, so I'm just posting something to get back on the thread. Love this thread, and looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Well except for my wheels and tires, and of course a road test the project is about finished. I am not happy with the condition of the dash panel. It looks as if someone got carried away with a polishing cloth and rubbed about all the chrome off of the plastic. But for now it will stay. The interior is finished, I have turn signals, lights, heater fan, dome light, dash lights. I do have to see yet why the horns are not working, they bench tested ok. Now I can focus on other things like working on my brother's 72 442, swapping the engine in my 92 Custom Cruiser and giving my house some needed attention I have been putting to the side.

Joe - Love 67's, love your car, and love your work! Can't wait to see it with the new wheels and tires. Thanks so much for documenting your build.

Had my '67 in two shows this past weekend, one Sat. & one Sun. Won my class Sat. & placed Sun. If you're interested in a bunch of nice car pics check out the "New Good Morning" thread under the Clubhouse where I posted pics from both shows.

Thats cool and congrats on the wins! Pictures are great, here, I am looking for nice Fall weather for the swaps and remaining cruise nights and shows! I went to the DVOC Oldsmobile Club zone show Saturday in the 67 wagon, despite some early showers it was a nice event. If you go to the DVOC site on Facebook there are a bunch of pictures there also!

Thanks. I'm not a Facebook guy, so I might not be able to get to the DVOC pics, but if I can't, maybe my wife can pull them up for me on her account, thanks for the tip. I bet you're itching to get your 4-4-2 out to an event!

Here are a few pictures that I am partial of.... The 67 race car is a real W car. Trans is auto on the column.
