It's been a while since I have done an update. Progress slowed down a bit over the winter. Priming continued through the fall, then started painting the dash and steering column.

Dash was sent to Vacuum Orna-Metal for a restoration and they did a GREAT job (pics coming soon). Painting of the body started last month.

The dash is back in.

The body work is the one thing I did not touch on my 64 F-85 build. Made a deal with friend of mine's body shop to use the car as a "fill in". He put the body on a rolling rotisserie while I torn down and built the rest. Your buggy is coming along great. kinda miss my 67 when I see yours....again nice work.

Steering wheel was pretty cracked. I used epoxy to get the loose pieces secured back down to the core, filled in the cracks with POR epoxy putty. It seemed to work well, but if it gets hot, the cracks show up again. Lots of sanding and repairing. Probably going to lose the definition of the lateral ridges. The primer helped fill in some micro cracks. Finished wheel coming soon.

To clarify, the dash in the pictures is a different one than the original that has the melting around the cig lighter.

Steering wheel has been repaired and painted (two-tone), seats are almost finished, back seat is installed as well as the door panels, carpet and headliner. I still need to clean up the steering wheel inserts and horn buttons. The engine is back from the shop and reassembly has started!

It has been awhile since my last post. We are getting closer to the finish line and working through some of the many details. These pictures were taken in January 2020. The engine/fuel has not been tuned well yet and still needs some work, it's running pretty rich. It's back inside the shop now getting some areas of the paint reworked. I'm hoping we are finished by August 1st. More to come...
