I adjusted the front ride height, a bit and took it for my first test drive today and it ran terribly. And the front calipers were grabbing very badly.
An adjustment of the timing, smoothed the engine out a bit and brought back a lot more power. A quick pedal mash from a dead stop proved that. I didn’t have any more time to play with it this afternoon.
Hopefully tomorrow I can figure out the brakes. I’m worried that the proportioning valve/combo valve is locked up.

Well, one step forward and two back.

The engine had to come out. It started and idled fine, even had a little bit of low end power.
But once the rpm’s climbed up past 2000 or so it fell flat on its face and started to have a horrible noise come from it…like metal on metal.
It was hard to remove such a good looking engine from the pristine engine bay.
And even though I checked every bolt, wire and strap…I forgot the dipstick tube.

Dr. Dan will be receiving this engine later this week.
Que sera…

Never a good time when something of this nature occurs! Let us know what Dan finds as the culprit.

I just got my judging sheet back from the Oldsmobile nationals.
The car scored a 990. Points were taken off for the aftermarket air conditioning and the master cylinder.
They also took a few points off for my “wrinkled floor mat”! I hope they never have to deal with a vinyl floor cover.

I think they were incredibly lenient with judging this car. I met all the judges and they were incredibly nice.
I definitely have to thank them for my score. Anything higher than an 875 brings you up into the senior class.

Now that I’m home the car is back up on jack stands as I put a new torque converter in it.
I wasn’t very happy with the stall that I picked.

also adding a few pictures to this thread to kind of wrap it up now that it’s almost done

It looks like what my parts and lower dash are painted. Right now I have the steering column tore apart ready to paint so I was looking to find the right color.
Thanks

Here’s the source for the light blue.
