I pulled the front seats and rear carpet out today. I want to detail the seats and the carpet has faded. I will try to find the correct color of SEM and freshen up the carpet. The floors are much nicer than I expected. There is much pitting on the bottom but does not appear to be anything through.

The carpets are in great condition other than the fading. Also found that the seat covers still have all there tags on them. The seat frames have no rust color at all on them.

My before and after pictures don't look like anything but Goop hand cleaner is incredible! The seats and back arm rests look like new and are much softer now. I am going to try it on much of the metal interior parts now. It is a little messy so it may not be so easy using it on parts that are still attached to the car. I want to do it before putting the carpet back in. I did pick up some SEM for the carpets. I can not match it exactly but it is close enough that nobody will know.

Made some progress on the interior. I had to spray the faded carpet and they turned out nice enough for me. I can not get the exact color for the carpet but it is close. I taped off the door seal area for a reference to the original color. The color is close but the original had a little more shine to it. It is MUCH better than it was. I have not touched the door panels yet and that is what the carpet looked like. I used SEM 15253 Titanium Metallic.

I included a couple pictures of the difference between the rear panels that I cleaned with Goop had cleaner and the front door panels I have not touched yet. The pictures show it ok but in person the difference is even bigger.

I hope to have the front seats back in tomorrow and maybe pull the door panels and start on them.

I still can't believe I was going to walk away from this car and not buy it. If it were not for my wife I would have walked away. She has a better eye than I do.

I got the door panels cleaned up and sprayed the lower carpet. Looks much better.

I have the interior back together for now. I still need to do some trim and the headliner sometime. Here are some before and after pictures. Everything on the interior is original.

Had a great day today! I had cracked the porcelain on one of the spark plugs last Spring and they were all stuck. Almost every time I had the engine to operating temperature for the past year I would spray the spark plugs with Kroil penetrating oil. I tried to get them out again today and was able to get all 8 of them out. Was stuck real good but the heat cycles and the oil helped a lot.

Next for this car will be to get the turbo operational. The turbo will spool but I can not bring it to boost because of some valves that are goofed up. I want to get this turbo working but the pipe for the exhaust bypass is rusted out. Not sure if I will fix this turbo and replace the controller diaphragms or put the other turbo on it that Jim built for our automatic car. Either way, I have enough parts to rebuild the carb and all the other parts to the system. I hope to be able to boost with this car this year.

I started on a turbo project for this car. The turbo color on a 62 has a couple opinions with nothing to back up either side really. Most if not all 62 turbos were red porcelain coated. I have had some of the older guys say every 62 was red and others say some were silver. Everyone agrees that all the 63's were silver. I know of a 62 that is owned by the original owner and he says that he has pictures of his car new with a silver turbo. The turbo on my 4 speed car is silver with a date code older than the car and I believe it is original. All that said, I am building a red one for the car. This red one has an older date code than the one I believe is original to the car.

The impellers and bearings on this turbo are in great condition. The seal has some nicks in it and will for sure replace that. The diaphragms in the controller are like new and at this point plan to reuse them.

Got everything cleaned up and repainted the compressor side parts. The exhaust side is porcelain coated so no need for paint. The picture looks good but the paint don't match as well as I would like for it to. Sending the turbine shaft and compressor wheel off tomorrow to be balanced. Will be a while before it goes back together.

I also plan to work on the turbo that is still on the car before I pull it off. I believe it is going to work like it should as it is but I can't boost till I rebuild the fluid injection parts. I just want to know what I have with that turbo before pulling it and storing it away.

Before I pull the turbo that is on the car I wanted to boost with it and see how it would do. This turbo’s seal does not leak surprisingly. I rebuilt the fluid valve last weekend and installed a rebuilt Check and relief valve that Jim crimped back together back in late 2015. I put the old 13″ radials and wheels on it from the automatic car and took it for a drive tonight. This turbo boosts great! I drove the car for the first time at cruising speeds and even up to 60 MPH one time. I boosted probably 10 times and the car performs great! The shocks are shot for sure.

I snapped a picture of the boost gauge while boosting. I am going to put a pressure gauge in it to see what the real PSI is on this turbo.
