1967 442 Restoration - Driveshaft

I am doing a frame off restoration on a 1967 Olds 442 and am wondering if anyone has information pertaining to the color of the drive shaft (as well as the colored bands on it). It would be great to see a picture if possible.

Thanks in advance!

OK...got it! From the 67 Assembly Manual, it is a single brown stripe. If you are doing a frame off, you really need that manual. A copy of the 67 Oldsmobile Inspector's Guide would be very helpful for codes + colors of parts. BTW...the rear ratio makes no dif, that IS a nice combo though!

Awesome thank you! Would that also include the color of the undercarriage? I was told on another thread it was black but would like to know the exact color if possible.

No...not the color of the undercarriage. I'm not real familiar with 67's. But...in general, different GM plants did some things different. like in the early 70's, some 442's the undercarriages were black and some were body color. Mostly all you see now is black. You need to know which plant your car was made + look for low mile original cars. There were actually a couple REAL low mile 442's at the Nats last year.

OK...I can't help on that. There were 2 yellow paint marks to line up the DS, one on the DS at the rear and one on the pinion yoke, also.

The drive shaft is natural steel. The frame should be black. The bottom of the body is a matte black with body color over spray in places. My email is psigmund@wi.rr.com if you have more questions. I can attach pics easier from my email.
