1966 Cutlass Convertible Frame Off
I am half way through a total frame off restoration on a 1966 Cutlass. Had to scrap the old frame due to rust. Found a 1967 El Camino frame in Alabama and started from there. Sandblasted and painted frame. REPLACED THE HORNS FROM OLD FRAME.
Every nut, bolt, washer and spring cleaned and repainted. I have been working on this car for 5 years. Have rebuilt the engine blue printed and balanced 330 with help and parts from Mondello.
Complete new racing suspension, lowered 2 inches. New 350 turbo transmission with a 2100 tci torque converter. Replaced all drums with 4 wheel power disk brakes.
Have completed all sheet metal and she has been painted black.
I am cloning 442 so the fenders have new vent chrome and body will have correct trim including grill, rear lights and trunk trim.
I will post some photos real soon. I have to choose from hundreds.

I plan on getting the dash installed during the spring. I know I need dash and glovebox padding. I have not taken a real close look at the plastics. I know that there are no cut outs or cracks and it has original radio. I wrapped it in bubble wrap as soon as it came out of the car. I will look at it next week and check the condition.
Thanks

Hi, my name is Tony and I have to replace my frame on my convertible 66 cutlass. So the frame from a 1967 el camino worked for you? How about the body mounts? And also I seen you put that you cut your front horns from your old frame? I need to fix my problem and it seems that finding a 1966 convertible frame is tough.

The 67 camino frame matched all the body mountings just fine. If I had it to do again I would try to modify the horns rather than replace them. Replacing horns = a lot of measuring and work. I researched the correct frame for a long time before going with the casino frame.
