Dash pad and floor mat question..
The dash pad on my 72 Supreme is in great shape other than it "bows" up in the center on the top. I really don't want to buy a replacement, so does anyone have ideas on how to fix it? I was thinking since it's plastic I could use a heat gun to get it to "lay down" but I dunno...
Also, with new floor mats, how can I get them to flatten out? My front passenger side keeps wanting to curl up...maybe heat as well?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave, the dash pad isn't just foam rubber, there's also a metal substrate imbedded in it across the horizontal surface IIRC If it's bowing upwards that bond with the metal may have broken free. How much of a 'bow' are you talking about? It might not be worth the effort of trying to change. I do have a dash pad in my shed that's straight as an arrow with all the mounting clips and studs intact but it would have to be color changed from blue to your dash color (green) with SEM paint. Can you send me a picture of the dash? See your PM for my personal email.
New floor mats issue? Let's see if this will help you. I'd take the mat out. Go inside and fill the bathtub at least 4" deep with really HOT water. Soak the mat for a good 15 - 20 minutes making sure the water stays hot. Then take it out and let it dry face down on an old towel. See if that will cure it's tendency to curl.
