What brand of interior parts are you using?

By interior parts, I mean seat covers and door panels. I know there is PUI and Legendary but was wondering who most of you guys use and is there another company I don't know about? My upholstery guy don't like PUI for some reason, but I wanted to see what our group says..

Oh,,, for a 71 442

Legendary all the way! Costs more but worth it. After 5 years now, it is still like new.

The first interior I installed was PUI. Very dissatisfied! Took covers back off, sent them back and got Legendary. Love the quality and fit. Would not recommend any other brand.

If you can wait til the end of the year to order, they usually have a good sale around then (Nov-Dec).

I forgot to add 1 more thing guys if you ever have a piece of chrome etc come off clean it with wax and grease remover half a dozen times and the sorrounding area , the tape has to stick somewhere. I then use clear Loctite glue it will dry very clear and then carefully straighten the piece and tape for 24 to 48 hrs for drying and press hard to make sure you get excellent contact and also let the glue set for 5 minutes or so for tackiness then apply to the panel etc. we have the choice of modern technology guys back then they only wished for that opportunity with products.

Legendary kit?

Do you guys know if there is a complete kit available from Legendary? I know I have seen complete kits in some catalog. But I went on Legendary's site and only saw individual parts listed. I think I may reupholster my 71 Cutlass Supreme Convertible this winter.

I would also suggest the ORIGINAL Reproduction Foam (from Legendary), not the regular Reproduction Foam which is $50 cheaper. My interior guy warned me that the extra time to modify the cheaper foam would result in more installation time and expense, and likely wouldn't look as good or wear as well.

As far as I know, they do not offer kits.
While it might be easier to get an 'interior in a box', there are downsides, like getting something you do not need, one part not nice enough, having an issue with a part and they demand the whole kit back, or similar.

Legendary's catalog is fun to look through and you just make a big shopping list. If you do need a list to get you started, i can send you a list I used long ago.
Although they are more expensive, they are worth it if you love and value your car. I did mine 6 years ago and still it is like new. Car show hosts often think it is leather due to its appearance...

Then it will not be Legendary, as it is made here in the states!

Oh, if doing a bench seat, use off-the-shelf sheet foam. Much cheaper than any repro (if available now for benches) and can be customized per your stiffness desires.

Thoguh they don't have kits you can call them and tell them your build and they will pretty much get all the pieces you need. I spent around $1200 for seat covers, headliner, carpet, vinyl top and maybe a couple more pieces. All in all I am satisfied and they were great to deal with over the phone which is rare for some companies.

Thanks guys- Legendary it will be. I thought I wanted a kit because it seems when you put new parts next to old parts you thought were fine, then the old part looks shabby. I see OPGI has kits but I can't tell who they are made by. But the complete kits they offer (stage 4) include a top which I don't need. I will get a legendary catalog and figure it out.

OPGI uses PUI interiors. FWIW I used PUI and I see no problems with fit or finish. I can't say how they compare to the OEM because my seats had been re wrapped years ago in a custom pattern and material.
