seat belt bolt removal
I'm having a difficult time removing my rear seat belts. There's no rust on the bolts, but they're still not budging. Are they reverse thread or something? Or are they just seriously bolted in?
I've used PB and WD40 with a breaker bar to no effect. Might need to get a second person involved as it's tough to get good torque on it as the 13/16" socket slips off the bolt easily.
Ideas?

Grind a socket down so the inside taper is gone. Since the bolt is so short when you add the inside taper to the socket you barley have any meat to hold the bolt. If you don't have a way to cut a socket push hard pressure down on the socket. No reason you cant get it with a breaker bar.
If for some reason the bolt hex is stripped the best way to get it is to weld a nut to the head. Just take precautions with carpet so you don't burn the car down.

Yeah, I think I'm simply going to have to put pressure down on the socket/bolt while someone handles the breaker bar.
Seat belts are otherwise in nice shape. Just clean 'em with a bit of liquid tide and they'll be as good as new. Now I just wish the guy didn't discard the front belts.....

Air IMPACT. An air ratchet will never have enough torque to break them loose. It'll flip you upside down first.
Move into the 70s, when they started using TORX head bolts back there. I had one hell of a time getting them out of the Hurst.

Like Joe stated ,if they are factory installed they used a plastic compond to seat the threads for saftey reasons ,use a long breaker and socket . never had one that would not come out ,unless floor was rusted then the whole backer plate twist off.

Once again, the bolts are retained with plastic locking material. Heat will destroy this material. If you heat the bolts, I strongly suggest that you use new ones to reinstall the belts.
