Rear seat removal

I have restored my 72 Oldsmobile Cutlass but this winter I accidentally got my car cover locked in my trunk and now I can’t get my trunk open. I’m assuming that the cover got stuck in the locking mechanism. I am attempting to remove the back seat and access the trunk and pull the cover out of the trunk. Hoping to clear my lock where I can then open the trunk.
I have gotten the bottom bench seat out, but I can’t figure out the upper portion. I have removed the two screws holding the bottom, but I’m unable to get the top to release. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting it to release??
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

There are hangers at the top of the rear seat back. "Raise" the entire rear seat back until it is free from the rear seat back panel support(s).

Position(s) "A" are the rear seat back support brackets.

In your description you indicated you removed screws from the bottom of the rear seat back, I believe they're actually bolts. None-the-less, once those two bolts are removed, you'll need to "pull" the bottom of the rear seat back towards yourself so it's clear of the body tabs, at that point all that's left is to "raise" the rear seat back up from the top support brackets. Depending on how many times the rear seat back has been removed in the past 50+ rears, they may have gotten bent (a little), but raise (push) upward to clear the support brackets at the top (A).

Norm, Thanks for the reply. I’ll keep trying. I had restored the interior a few years a go, adding a new package tray. The package tray included a fancy vinyl edging. It appears the seat is now attached to the package tray as I attempt to raise the seat. My effort today will try breaking the seal with a putty knife and trying to raise the seat backing again.
yesterday I even tried putting a floor jack under the seat and applying pressure, but no luck. This will be the first time removing the seat with new vinyl after installing, I patiently keep trying…… Thanks again for refreshing my memory!

Billy - I'm trying to envision how this may be failing since I've done this many times myself. Here's the full diagrams + instructions. Maybe you'll read something & a light will go off. Using a floor jack is just far, far too much pressure. Maybe the package tray wasn't installed per specifications?

The vinyl lip on my package tray was attached to the metal frame behind the seat with contact cement.
Maybe the seat came in contact with the cement and is now adhered to the frame and or package tray?
I'd carefully try to work a Plastic putty knife between the two.
My seat back nearly fell out so for yours to nit budge it makes me think it is glued.

Good luck
