Help Finding Fastener for Instrument Panel to Dash
On my '70 W-31 Cutlass I'm looking for the clip fastener that apparently is inserted in the dash to accept the stud from the padded dash board. It appears it is only used on only one stud. The original part # was: 407550. See attached photos:

Why not just unscrew it from that post, ref flair as needed or and insert or glue into the metal subframe for dash installation? I've never seen on pull off on the post just by pulling the dash pad off. Was there corrosion there?

It was only used on one stud, likely because it was impossible to get a nut on that stud easily on the assembly line. I've not seen a vendor selling them. Have you tried to Google that GM part number? Sometimes vendors have NOS parts listed for sale. The closest new part you will probably find is called a tubular nut and is typically used for installing emblems and trim.

Dorman sells an assortment, which pretty much guarantees that the size you need will not be in there...

Allen, Joe, & Packrat,
Thanks for the comeback. As you see I have the original clip. It's been over a year since I removed the dash board. I stuck the clip back on the stud so I'd know where it came from. Before sending the body to the paint shop last week I located the hole where the clip inserted. There was nothing to hold the clip in place. Allen, you're probably right, I just need to re-flare it. I was thinking if there was a new one out there, I could simply press it in.
