Smile fastener interchange

Hey guys, will SBO fasteners work on the BBO.I'm pretty sure they do,but i couldnt find documentation of it.I'm going to buy the important studs, bolts from ARP,but i'm going withstock bolts for some stuff. My engine was disassembled ,and i dont have any bolts.Does anyone sell complete bolt kits for the 455?I've seen kits for ''other'' engines.
I'm trading for a 71' 350 complete,and i'd like to use some of these assesory brakets,and bolts.thanks for the help,later,BO

Everything from the outside of the engine will swap over on the 2 you listed.
Late model head bolts (77 & up) are larger-they will not.
Rod bolts will NOT interchange.
Oil pan, manifold bolts, head, front cover, flexplate, balancer, power steering, engine mounts, etc, everything else is a GO!
If you need something specific, PM me. I have a ton of stuff.

What is your performance goal, and rpm range, for the 350?
Factory did use some decent stuff.

Thumbs up DREAM ENGINE

Hey,I'm building a 455,i bought it disassembled w/new rebuild kit.I needed all the bolts,brackets,thats why i got the 350,for parts.I'm running a 455 now,1.67 60's/8.11/84MPH,in1/8 mile.This new build is going to be my''dream engine''.It's 455,F block,C heads[sm valve].30 over forged,N crank.I didnt incorparate all the ''tricks''on the one i'm running now.It's a great street engine,very strong,and will be going into myson's[now 14 yrs]83' cutlass.My cars 72' 455/400/3.73.Mainly will be strip,but not so wild that i could'nt drive it to the track.Cam is an ENGLE 274/280 ADJ.,512/523.Should pull to about 5200.The heads are bare,i plan on doing porting,crossover fill,braze divider myself.Then 3-5 angle grind,cut valve seats.o90,[if i have to]machine guide down,new guides.What eles shold be done to them for performance?I have .028 head gaskets,and would like to end up w/10-1 compression.You suggested 2.125 intakes,this depends on cost for me.Thanks for all your help,once i get going i'm going to post in ''builds'' because i think it will be good for ''tips''First engine build for me,the one i have now a friend assembled.So i'll be calling on the board pretty often.Learned A TON already,thanks again,BO

Sorry bout that.
The valve size will cause your heads (AND your HP) to be done @4600 rpm.
No joke.
But you will have some bitchin torque curve (read that as pulling power when you lightly squeeze the throttle).
ARP Rod bolts are NEVER a bad idea, but I would not use the main, nor head bolts, unless I was shifting at 5500+, and had a true 11:1 compression. JMO here, many will spend the coin, regardless. I have built a couple of 10:1 55's without, and they were fine.

Hey,thanks,so your saying the smaller valves are better?I really was thinking of just useing the stock 2in. I'd rather not take off any uneeded material, milling ect..I may not ever buy alum. and would like these heads to be rebuildable,a couple times. If i did upgrade,my son will get my pulloffs. So what do you think? Is this another EGO buster??HAHA!!I want to make power on the top end,to half track im good.Cant beat these torque monsters!thanks again,BO
Thanks for the heads up on the bolts too, what about main cap straps? Is all this overkill,or just cheap insurance?

Go to at least a 2.072. Extra power, unless you do not want it.
2" valves are for small blocks.
With the build you describe,
I'd say straps are a overkill.
What are the chances you go to 11.5 compression? Somewhere around there is when I would start looking at a set of straps. JMO

Hey man, sorry, typed a reply and must've forgot to send it. No,I wont be going over 10/1.I'm thinking,2.07s and leave the 1.625s.Can it still take advantage of the 274/280 adj.512/523 cam i'm going to run?or do i need to save up for even bigger valves?I guess you can tell i'm confused about it.
Also if you have time, cheak out my post ''head porting today''Let me know what you think, thanks,
I'll be gone next week[vacation]dont know when i can post again, thanks again ,later,BO
