Most likely you'll need to purchase a new car.

On a more serious note, first: state the make, model & year of your vehicle since both locks and glove compartments vary by make, model & year. Someone my have a suggestion/solution.

Lock

Have a locksmith pick it open. I can't think of a year that a glove box can't be picked Take apart and see why your key does not work.

Tnx

Tnx. But the key turns and the last time I heard a spring or something else sort of got loose. So maybe a new car will be the best option 😂😂.
I will have a locksmith to have a look at it

It appears that your glove box lock is working exactly as designed.

I have to assume that you don't have a key for the glove box lock. If that is the case, the only solution I can see (without destroying the glove box door) is as haywood suggested: Have a locksmith pick it open, and then take it apart to have a new key made for it.

Key

Well.
I have the key. It turns the lock. But I cannot see the latch responding. I thought maybe the 3 bolts in the lower part to unbolt. Or is this not possible

3 bolt lock doesnt come to mind. 2 bolt on 60 and 70 year vehicles. If it is in the unlocked position the thumb turn/ cylinder can be removed. Possible back of cylinder has the tailpiece broke. Then a screwdriver in housing and rotate. Need year and model and I should have explored view of assembly

It also sounds like it may be an adjustment of the latch/catch, either way, maybe slide a plastic tool in and try to pry slightly. It may pop open.
