I have a question I want to run by the experts regarding the glove box lock on my 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. The lock on my car has always been a little loose, and lately, it just spins since the escutcheon isn’t tight to the **** assembly. In the below photo, the position of the lock is at 9:00, and I’m wondering is that in the locked or unlocked position. I want to make sure mine is correct when I put the lock back into position.
Also, since I took the lock out, I thought I would clean the lock/tumblers and lubricate them before I put them back on the glove box door. What would you recommend I use to clean the tumblers? And what should I use to lube them?
So just to clarify, are you saying my lock is currently in the 3:00 position. The way I look at it is the open end of the lock is at 9:00. Are you saying I need to turn it clockwise 180 degrees so the open end of the lock is at 3:00? Below is a close-up of the lock. The way I was describing it in the initial post was the open end is at 9:00 in this photo.
