Glove box lock removal without a key?

I have a glove box door that I plan to use to replace my slightly damaged original. The issue is the lock cylinder didn’t come with a key. The service manual says to turn the lock to the lock position, press the retaining tab, and pull the cylinder from the case. I’d like to remove it without damaging it.

Next question, where can I purchase a new cutlass decal and “S” emblem for the door?

OK, Matt, I figured you would get a more knowledgable answer than me but not yet, so I'll pipe up. I think you will have to ruin the lock cylinder ( at least) to get it out of the latch. I don't think you can get it to lock position without the key. Well at least I'll take you to the top. Maybe you'll get a better reply..

I think I’ll consult a locksmith before destroying the lock. Hopefully I can find one open with all this virus crap going on. I’d rather not tear it up if I can avoid it. Thanks!

Matt,
Call Scott Winn (aka Oldspackrat) He talked me through the removal of mine but it's been a few years and I don't remember exactly how to do it.
I do know it didn't involve destroying the lock....His number is 317-727-7041

Absolutely, contacting locksmith is a good option before you destroy a lock, maybe they can fix the issue.
