Glove box lock install

Glove box lock install

Need help in knowing how to install a glove box lock on a 66 442. I have a new lock and need to know how to install in the lock holder

IAre the pics from the assembly manual? They don't look exactly like my lockset

All I have ever done is slide them into the case.
will it not slide in?

These are from my locksmith bible for old cars.I can look for others as I think there is more. These are the 2 common locks.

Mine slide in ok. I'm just not able to lock it in place

Thanks for all the responses and help. It appears that the way to install the lock is to slide in in and turn it to the place where pushing the button operates the latch. At that point the key can be removed and the lock is in place
