Glove Box Door Hinge

Hi All, does the glove box door hinge screw into anything on the bottom other than the liner ? My liner has a speed nut for the center screw but nothing that I can find for the outer screws. I wasn’t sure if perhaps there was something in the dash itself that the screw are supposed to into, or if I should head to the hardware store and grab a few more speed nuts.

Thanks…. Tim

It's some time since I removed/reinstalled the liner and glove box hinge/door assembly. I have good diagrams demonstrating the assembly with the referred to screws and where they fasten if that would help you?

You should be able to zoom into these to address your question regarding the hinge screws. If not, let me know I can blow it up.

Thank you so much ! It looks like I am missing that reinforcement piece. Unless I have my hinge incorrectly set up….

I'm not 100% the reinforcement piece is required, it probably is - I can't recall if mine had the reinforcement piece - it most likely does.
I suspect you could fabricate the reinforcement piece with some HVAC duct-work sheet metal, perhaps?

There is NO reinforcement piece....that is the dash metal that they are referring to as the "reinforcement". No part number indicated either so it's not a "part".

Yup - 70Post - saw that today when I was out there. Thanx again Vintage Chief - your pictures confirmed exactly what I was thinking it would be like. All installed correctly now. I think you almost inspired me to find my factory service manual. It got lost in storage when I moved a year ago, and has never resurfaced….

TP - Those images are in the Product Information Manual (PIM) which some refer to as the Factory Assembly Manual (FAM). None-the-less - Cheers.

second to Patton's comments. Since the holes are tough to see, use a awl or 90 degree awl to help find them .

The screws are self tapping to attach the hinge.
