Dual Gate Shifter

I have a 1970 Cutlass bucket seat car. I want to change the origianl shifter to a dual gate.
Does the dual gate bolt on to the same mounting plate that is used on a standard shifter?

NOPE

the dual gates have their own mounting brackets - although the rear holes in the dual gate bracket doest bolt up to same two rear holes as the standard floor shift - the console is marked on inside underneath that shows where you have to cut additional material out for the dual gate top plate to mount properly - then the top plate and front top extension cover are different for that vs. standard shift .

not a hard conversion if you have the correct pcs - ( the shifter cable is also different for dual gates - it's slightly longer than the stock cable to trans as well.

Type in "Dual Gate" in the search function above - there are several threads with lots of good information on converting to a 70-72 Dual Gate setup.
